We went to speak to Paul who knows a lot about
lighting and thing such as dry ice. When speaking to him, we realised the
problems that you can be faced with when using dry ice. First of all, the temperatures
are extremely cold and therefore it can be dangerous if in contact with skin
for a long period of time, obviously we are using fellow students as our
singers and dancers and we cannot afford to have them hurt from shooting in our
video.
The second problem we are facing is mixing dry ice, which is a moist gas
and electricity cables, Paul suggested concern that this could be a hazard, as
you want to avoid mixing liquid with electricity and power.
Lastly dry ice
needs to be used within a very short time of being mixed together, so if we did
want to use it we’d need to use it and shoot with it straight away. The problem
is our set design and lighting is already pretty complicated and we are just
not sure it would be sensible to add another element so last minute, when we
could shoot without it and our video would still look as good as if we had it.
Having discussed in my group we decided not to use the dry ice as its just to complicated
and not beneficial enough.
