Presenting idea One of my Music Video - The Wombats 'Greek Tragedy'

Tokyo (Vampires and Wolves) – The wombats.  

The Wombats are and English Rock band formed in Liverpool made of 3 men. They are known for being indie rock/pop, as well as having new elements of ‘New Wave’ music was created in the late 1970s – to mid 1980s and ties in with Punk rock.  Bands such as the Wombats have tested the water and created music using a bit of everything making them more indie.

The band themselves are pretty edgy and like to stand out and set themselves apart their attitude towards music is a positive love for what they create, and they enjoy the career hugely. They are similar to bands such as The Kooks and The Vaccines.

In the performance I would have the three band members in different places the setting could be in a recording type studio. The band members would be getting their inspiration from recent trips and trying to record the song ‘Tokyo’. They could be wearing overly smart suits while recording. Whilst the other half could be them partying in some bar remembering Tokyo however it would be obvious they were in London or a major city like that not in Tokyo. There’s not really a narrative it is just made obvious by the props and setting of a nightclub scene as it goes back and forth to the 2 settings. My third element would be the guys dressing up/trying on costumes like a wolf, vampire and queen having those over the top masks and joking around I would probably set this in a costume shop before the nightclub scene to give 3 different locations and to keep it more entertaining. In terms of the different stylistic elements I would have lots of neon/Uv style bright lights in the bar scene flashing to give it a real sense of chaos. There would be a lot of short sharp shots to mirror the excitement and vibe of the video, as it’s a pretty upbeat track. 

The video would fit in with the track as its all about the boys dancing in Tokyo having a great time and wanting to be taken back there, therefore I think this particular idea sums up what they are feeling as a band and their reaction to all the change. The video would also be chaotic and exciting which matches the star image that the Wombats feel they have, there’s a lot of energy in everything they do similarly to reality.
