Stephen - Remembering Myself 

Having absorbed the feedback I received from my class mates, to improve my idea I have decided I am going to make the most of the paint powder and have my performance part with the main guy singing in a plain studio and keep it really simple. I would then have the ballet dancer receiving the paint she would start in all white, and slowly get covered. I am lucky enough to have access to a drone so to make it more interesting I could film the ballet from above with a drone and get all sorts of angles as the colour hits the girl. To add an original element I would add the powder and I could have the girl covered in paint already and then it could change and I could go backwards and reverse the whole thing so by the end of the song the ballerina is all white. I think it would look really cool on camera as the paint evaporated off her again being visually exciting. 

As I currently only have two elements the performance in the studio and the dance I would add my final element by adding the mirrors as a separate part. I would have it really simple and have the guy performing looking at his reflection and using different angles I’d hope to make it look unique and stand out giving the audience one more thing to focus on.

Post Feedback Ideas:

 Idea 1 – Remembering Myself – Having pitched my first idea I received feedback from some of my class -mates informing me of helpful suggestions and constructive criticism.

What went well: I found that people liked my song choice mainly because it stands out and is different making it more interesting for an audience. I also found that my idea of having paint throw around was liked by most people, as it helps add another visual image to look at. The contrast between the softness and simplicity of the ballet dancer with the pain also works well. Lastly people liked the simplicity of my idea as some times keeping it basic is better then over doing it making things look rushed and less professional.

 

What needs to be improved/thought about in more detail?

It was suggested I add one more element to the video as I currently only have two main parts which could result in the audience getting bored with the repetition then switching off during my video which is what I want to avoid.  I also realised that filming with mirrors might not work as well as I had hoped as it will be extremely difficult to keep the camera crew out of the shot with all the reflections from the mirror. Lastly a man sings the song and currently I have pastel paint powder being thrown on him so I might need to rethink this as it could come across as girly. Overall I need to come up with an extra something to make my video more enticing and interesting.

 

                

Idea 3 - Digi Pack

For George Ezra he is a solo Artist who has a truly unique voice. His music is catchy and deeply thought out and therefore is hugely appreciated by his fans. I think this shows in the image as it is clear and shows everything he wants to be known for. He does not hide anything and like the music video I am hoping to make it is simple but shows off what he offers and all  there is to see. 

Idea 2 - Digipack

For My Remembering Myself by Stephen Digipack I decided to use a simple format from the website WIX which allows you to edit and create websites with home pages and advertise your particular artist. For Stephens advertisement I thought the more cut back and simple the better as it shows who he is and what he believes in. I also believe an fan or new listener looking at this would automatically get an understanding of what he represents and the type of singer/songwriter music they would be listening to.

Idea 1 - Digi pack

For The Wombats I wanted to show their overall vibe, therefore chose a picture to fit their chilled out nature and look on music. The whole image advertises the song 'Tokyo' and the band therefore I decided it worked well together as an advertisement piece. I also made an example of a media gallery below showing some of my music video ideas for this track, and the types of images I would be trying to create in the video.

Presenting Idea three of my music video - George Ezra Da Vinci Riot Police

Da Vinci Riot Police – George Ezra

 

 George Ezra is an English singer/songwriter. His top 10 songs, Budapest has launched his career and he is now known globally. He says Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie have been his main influences. George Ezra is known for his extremely unique voice and his music is described as “deep bluesy and mournful” He is most similar to artists such as James Bay and Vance Joy. However his imagine is different and therefore desirable for a lot of fans.

 

I would like to have someone driving around, like the song they go in a cyclical narrative. Starting at the beginning of the journey and finishing at the end. He is in worn out jeans and an old shirt of some sort. Props would include a car and different setting such as woodland, fields, different roads and maybe a city backdrop. (We could use streets in Guildford, which hold all the different landscapes and locations.) The idea that someone would be driving around and maybe reflecting on things.  Contrasting with the singer (George) who would be in simple room looking through a scrapbook of pictures of a road trip reminiscing.

 

Do add stylistic elements we could use lots of snap shots of the car journey and the images from the scrap book to keep the visual pace fast whilst the sound of the song remain pretty calm throughout. The video fits into the track, as it is all they are both about journeying in life. They therefore mirror each other and help represent them to an audience/listener.  George Ezra has a very soulful star image and I think the video also links with that as there Is nothing over the top about it, its basic but tells the story very well therefore matches George’s chilled out take on music and life.
